WELCOME to my blog and my photographic journey, where my photography style is dictated by my environment. I am a full time executive member of my household. That's right, I care, feed, instruct, inspire, maintain, a group of amazing individuals and the space they live in. These individuals are my children and husband, that place is my home. Most of the time I photograph where we are together, what we are doing together and most importantly their beautiful expressions. Sometimes I have the wonderful opportunity to photograph another family or event. I post my journey here.

My photographic philosophy:
I celebrate the unique differences in each person, event and place. I relish in capturing life as it happens naturally. I anticipate it! I love creating an emotional image, one that will be cherished. I seek for beauty in the simplest most unexpected places. I enjoy carrying my camera where I go, making an interpretation of that moment and archiving it for good. Creating a beautiful, stunning final print and giving lasting memories of people loved. These things put a smile on my face.

A Portait of the Famous Dick's Cafe and the Real Art Hale

A few weeks ago I received a phone call from Tom Wharton from the Salt Lake Tribune. He wanted to use my photographs I took nearly 17 years ago from Dick's Cafe! You can see his article here: http://www.sltrib.com/news/2474877-155/whatever-happened-to-famous-dicks?page=2
I was honored, and then I realized I might get a little traffic to my blog that I had not updated in over a year! In my defense; I had a baby, I homeschool, I have four children, I sell doTerra oils, I'm fixing up a fixer-upper, I attempt to cook and clean, I take a picture from time to time, and as you can tell I am a very happy; adhd, type 1, yellow personality, homemaker (or however you might want to define me). Honestly it is nearly 3 am and I am typing this as I rotate between caring for my small children and trying to stay awake. I pray something I write makes sense.

Hello,
My name is Sharee. My father is Art Hale and he is a very talented barber. He worked for many years at a barbershop with Ron Knell who was like a father to him. This wonderful barbershop was attached to the famous Dick's Cafe situated on the main hub of St. George, Utah's Boulevard. This cafe lasted from 1935 to 1999. It was difficult to accept that it was coming to an end. The end of an era of; delicious pie, good ol' boys lined up on their favorite barstools, a cafe lined with patrons photos and treasures from movies with John Wayne. A barbershop where politics and religion are expressed freely and men gather to have a good heart to heart with a favorite confidant either or fall asleep in a barber chair while he plays with the little hair they have left.
Truthfully, the good ol' boys are still around and the barbershop is still running a muck with hefty opinions on the current political system. When I say good ol' boys, I mean the genuine, nice kind. http://artsbarbershop.com

Like my father, whom this is really about. After all, I took the photographs for him, when I knew the barbershop and Cafe were going to be torn down.  I will feature images of my Father here in a wonderful little book you can purchase of the final images of Dick's Cafe: End of an Era Famous Dick's Cafe & Knell's Barbershop by photography by Sharee Jones - Images taken 1999

You need to know about this remarkable person and his equally remarkable wife. I can not mention my father without mentioning my mother. So who is Art and Gayle Hale? I know them by their acts of service and so that is where I will start. My parents adopted me and my sister when we were 10 and 14, (my mother is really my second cousin. Her father and my biological grandfather were cousins and best friends).  They raised us, loved and cared for us despite the many problems that come with adopting two older children who had suffered from abuse. When I was 21 years old and serving a full time mission,  their two biological sons died within 3 months of each other and yet they would continue to comfort others.  He and my mother raised and lovingly cared for their handicapped daughter who died of a chronic heart condition two years ago. My mother's mother had been living with them just before she passed away three years ago. They have continually helped family and even me when I went through the trials of divorce, years ago. They love their children and grandchildren. My mother has one of the most amazing voices and often sang at home. My father always said how much he loves her voice. My mother loves to serve with children and has been a first grade school teacher for many years. My father will mow lawns and regularly visit others in need and in his various calling in church. They are remarkable and I am blessed to have them in my life. I leave you there with this small tribute.

 The fourth wise man...

The following images are from Knell's Barbershop. Taken several years ago. You can see my dad has hardly aged a bit. :)

A few fave pics this year:

Thank you Kay Lynn Reilly for this beautiful photograph!

My wonderful sister took this image. This is how I hold and love my babies.
I wish I could always have a baby in my arms
A few other things that happened this year:
Of course we had a baby.
My two older kiddo's were in That's what "Friends Are For"
at Dixie State College with Gwendolyn Dattage
They made their debut at the Bat's!

 We homeschooled!
I photographed Gracia Jones, a direct descendant of Joseph Smith. (You can watch a movie about Joseph Smith HERE or read more about him HERE).
She also married my Father in Law's cousin.
We went to the temple as well...

I went to a Centerpoint Homeschool Conference with a friend.
Which transformed my thinking of homeschooling in a more efficient and wonderful way.
We visited the Manti temple on our way back and she caught this great photograph for me.
 I caught a first smile.
We visited the Farm a few times.

I adore this man.

My daughter joined Siva Pasifika

I taught essential oils classes!
We went hiking...

Easter was wonderful. General Conference was even better.
